I'm forever looking for ways to use up fabric scraps. I'm talking about the really tiny scraps! This is such an easy and addictive project.
All you need is your scrap pile, some glue, wood clothespins, and an exacto knife (or scissors).
*OPTIONAL: an old paintbrush to apply the glue and wax paper to protect your work surface.
Cut a rectangular piece of fabric just slightly larger than your clothespin. I looked for pieces with lots of color or an interesting design.
Apply a generous amount of glue to the clothespin. I used a an old paintbrush to do this job.
Center and apply the piece of fabric on top of the adhesive and smooth out any wrinkles.
Next, apply a thin layer of glue to over the top of the fabric. Let it dry completely. I just went off and did something else and came back to it an hour later and it was hard and dry.
I did a bunch of them at the same time.
Once your fabric is hard and dry, flip your clothes pin over.
Now get an exacto knife or scissors and carefully trim the excess fabric.
That's all there is to it!
O.K. so now you have these cute, colorful clips! At this point you may be asking, "What do I do with these"?
Use them to hang kid's art or a wall hanging.
They also make great chip clips.
Glue a magnet to the back of the clothespin and put them on your fridge to hold pictures, cards, schedules, etc.
If you do a quick internet search for creative uses for clothespins you will find lists of things you can use these for:
*Hold a picnic tablecloth in place by clipping two ends of the tablecloth under the table
*Clip matching gloves, mittens, socks, or even dish gloves together
*Hold a page when viewing a recipe in a book
*Tie up your earbud cords around them
and so many more! I found so many new uses for these in my search.
