A LIGHTHEARTED PORTRAIT: NAPOLEON DYNAMITE

Remember the embroidered notebook paper a few posts ago? I thought this would make a fun use of that; a thread portrait of Napoleon Dynamite. I have no idea why I love this movie so much, but it just gets funnier every time I watch it. It is so eccentric, funny and touching. It just never gets old.

I realized that creating the portrait on white fabric washed out the image so I painted a shadow around him in order the make the image pop a little.

The glasses were such a challenge. The lighting in the picture was kind of strange.

I used a smaller piece of fabric to create Napoleon’s hilarious portrait of Trisha, his love interest.

The hair was quite a challenge. There were so many colors around his eyes, as well.

The ‘vote’ text was a coincidence but so timely:)

Well thanks for indulging me in my portrait adventures. Hope this gave you a little smile. Have a great week!

Warmly,
